Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (EEOB) has a strong commitment to ensuring all members of our community feel like they belong at Kennesaw State University. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Biology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Establishment of a productive, extramurally funded, nationally recognized research program studying animal physiology that includes undergraduate and graduate student researchers. Area of specialization may be in any field related to animal physiology, including but not limited to: ecophysiology, behavioral physiology, biomedical sciences, organismal biology, and comparative physiology.
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses both within the incumbent's area of specialization and in general biology, with an emphasis on active and experiential learning to promote student success.
- Professional service and support for student success within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University, and beyond is expected.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Biology or a related discipline is required
- A record of peer-reviewed publications (or accepted manuscripts)
- Record of teaching at the university level
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience
- Experience using animal subjects to study physiology or disease
- Current extramural funding for their research
- Record of teaching at the university level and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
- Demonstrated leadership in curricular development and/or in undergraduate education
- Current funding and/or a strong record of past external funding

- A research statement (maximum length 2 pages) that outlines applicants short- and long-term objectives for their research, including plans for engaging KSU students and plans for attracting extramural funding. If these plans involve animal subjects, the applicant should briefly describe the species, number of animals, and any special considerations necessary to utilize the KSU vivarium.
- Statement of teaching philosophy (maximum length 2 pages) describing how the applicant would use evidence-based practices to advance student success at KSU
