Description:
The Department of Biology (www.baylor.edu/biology) in the College of Arts & Sciences (www.baylor.edu/artsandsciences) seeks applications for a full-time Lecturer faculty position beginning in August 2025. We welcome applications from all sub-disciplines of biology.

Lecturers should develop educational strategies that incorporate student-centered learning activities that facilitate transformative learning experiences in courses. Experience and/or interest related to innovative curricula for lab courses that promote a culture of discovery will be considered a strength. The department has developed and encourages the use of an undergraduate Learning Assistant program to facilitate active learning in the classroom.

This position is a 10-month appointment during the academic year. Teaching opportunities during summers may be available depending on student demand. The appointment is a renewable full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused position with a 6-year promotion path to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and a 12-year promotion path to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates (see: Policy on Full-Time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University). Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:
  • Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in a biologically related discipline.
  • A track record of developing student-centered learning activities is expected.
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Successful candidates will be able to contribute to one or more of the following: course development, training, and oversight of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA), contributing to the department's Learning Assistants (LA) program, mentoring undergraduate students, and supervising student teaching labs.
