Description:
The Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at Baylor University is pleased to continue significantly expanding its research and education mission related to Tropical Disease Biology. At the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, we seek an outstanding scientist with a well-established research record in virology or parasitology whose research addresses central questions relevant to tropical diseases and global health. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, pathogen/vector/host interactions, epidemiology, evolution, computational biology, or structural biology.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program at Baylor University, demonstrate a productive record of scholarship in one of the focus areas listed above, embrace an interdisciplinary research and teaching environment, and develop new collaborations within and beyond Baylor University. Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) from an institution of higher education; postdoctoral experience is preferred. Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor (tenured) should demonstrate evidence of significant research leadership supported by an excellent publication record and extramural funding.

Faculty are expected to:
  • maintain an externally funded research program with a record of publications in high-quality journals;
  • collaborate with faculty at the University;
  • mentor and support graduate students and postdoctoral fellows;
  • incorporate undergraduate students in research;
  • teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels,
  • serve the University, the community, and within their professional networks.
